Permissions for shared mailboxes do not automatically transfer during an
Office 365 Tenant to Tenant Migration, especially when using manual methods. Admins must plan to document and reapply these permissions in the destination tenant.
If you are conducting an
Office 365 Manual Mailbox Migration, export all mailbox permission settings beforehand using PowerShell (Get-MailboxPermission, Get-MailboxFolderPermission). This ensures nothing is missed during reconfiguration in the target tenant.
With
Cross Tenant OneDrive Migration, a similar principle applies. File and folder permissions must be mapped or restored based on pre-migration reports. Without this step, users may lose access to business-critical documents.
